The Smith Brothers put Poughkeepsie on the map with their famous cough drops, which are still marketed nationwide (though they are now made elsewhere). The brothers also ran a restaurant on Market Street, which was a true Poughkeepsie institution for generations. This vestige of its old painted sign remains decades after the fact.
