VARIOUS RUINS - PAGE 5
Brush Park. December 2009.
Just beyond the parking lots for Comerica Park is a small neighborhood of
fine brick urban mansions that epitomize how far the built environment of this
grand city has declined. The number of houses has steadily declined in this era of abandonment, as some
buildings have fallen down on their own, while others were demolished or burned down.
Some of the houses in Brush Park are restored and
inhabited.
I just missed seeing this building turn to
rubble.

This was the Luben Apartments. December
2009.
I passed it by again on November 13,
2010. That was the last time I'll ever see it - the Luben burned
on November 28, 2010. Strangely, this section of the building was almost
immediately demolished, while the rear portion, still smoldering, was
left standing.
