Bannerman's Island Arsenal
POLLEPEL ISLAND, FISHKILL, NEW YORK
January 7, 2010
Half a shadow inside the north wall of
the Tower.
Seeing for the first time that huge chunk missing
from the castle was about as gut-sinking a feeling as it gets in this hobby. If
we can't preserve Bannerman's Castle, what does that say for lesser buildings?
The South Gap Tower, marking the
entrance to the dock behind the breakwater, is the structure at lower left.
The North Gap Tower fell into the Hudson River many years ago.
A rare view of the remains of the Number
Two Arsenal. This wall is almost entirely covered in ivy.
