Fresh Air Home, St. John the Divine
Tomkins Cove, New York

Undated postcard.

This Shingle-style building served as a retreat of the Fresh Air Association of St. John, Inc. The Fresh Air Home provided summer vacation periods for children, and for mothers with infants, primarily from New York City. A substantial portion of the house collapsed in the winter of 2011/2012. The house and several outbuildings were razed around the summer of 2012; one stone cottage / gatehouse in good condition remains. The Chapel of St. John the Divine remains active nearby.

All photos March 2011 unless otherwise noted.
