Belvedere

The Belvedere mansion, north front. This house is adjacent to Lyndhurst, east of the Old Croton Aqueduct. It may have been built as early as the 1910s by a Florence and Casper Whitney, but most documentation leads to a 1920s construction by a Dr. Philip Cole, whose estate was called “Zeeview.” Belvedere comprises two former estates, whose mansions are long since demolished. One of the Bronfmans of the Seagrams Whiskey family owned Belvedere from 1960-1972, before selling to the Unification Church.
